About Me

My name is Mumtaz, I was born in a little village in India and came to the UK at just 4 years old. My passion for food began as a child - I can remember when I used to come home from school smelling my mother's delicious cooking from the outside of our house. She'd have pot fulls of my favourite mouth-watering curries, accompanied by hot chappatis laden with butter, ready and waiting on the table.

As a teenager I started to learn how to cook the classic dishes that had been passed through generations within my family. Over the years and after having kids of my own, I put upon the dinner table the same dishes for my children as my mum lovingly provided for me, my sister and brothers.

Now, with over 40 years experience I like to take the vibrant Gujarati flavours I was brought up with and combine them with popular dishes from various cuisines, creating fusion dishes by adding the spice and heat from Indian food, making it something very special to me - as an Indian woman brought up in Britain embracing the flavours and tastes I love.
